Engine surge and high idle
Please apologize for me igorance again, being a noob with wcvw's, i have another question that i couldnt find and answer to in the forum. Finally got the little girl running again and seem to have another issue now. i seem to have intermittant engine surge/hunting and intermittant high idle (1500 RPM). both of these conditions seem to happen only when the AT is in park or neutral and both are intermittant. after installing new plugs, wires, cap and rotor, the idle did change from about 700 rpm to almost 1000 when in gear but stopped. is there some sort of idle control screw or valve that could be out of adjustment, or should i check for vacuum leak first?

Re: Engine surge and high idle
Replace all your vacuum hoses.
Replace the o-ring on the throttle bypass screw (7mm on the back of the throttle body brass).
Year of cabby would be nice to know.

Vacuum hoses for sure, then there is the BLUE CTS sensor.... But first change the vacuum hoses and o-ring on the throttle body by-pass screw.JonnyHen wrote:sorry i forgot the year, its a 92.
Check the Main Air intake tube, here is a link, as that hose gets week, and any unmetered air plays havoc.
