so this has happened only a few random times but it's still a concern. When I cut the car on and go to back out as i'm backing it revs up and tries to accelerate back. I cant tell you what it revs up to as it startled me the few times this has happened.
any tips?

Re: reving reverse
That could be a sign that your torque convertor is slipping, or that the reverse band is not right.
I would start by doing the standard stuff.
Using a mighty-vac and a 1 quart drain jar,, suck out 3 quarts of atf via the fill tube, then add 3 quarts new, Drive it around the block and then drain and add 3 more quarts, drive it around the block, drain out 3 quarts and add 3 more, drive it 2 miles, then check the level and only add to the hot line.
You can also check the gear selector detents to make sure that the tranny when in reverse is only in reverse and not between gears.
I would think that is a good possibility.
These transmissions are rock solid and considered bullet proof.

Re: reving reverse
I would check what Brian said to but one thing that comes to mind is engine and Trans mounts. If the engine moves enough it could pull the throttle open causing the engine to rev up.
