I'm confused

OK, Was driving Topless Bunny yesterday and I noticed that when I started to move from a dead stop I could hear a bang from the front right corner. I think it is the early signs of a CV failure.
There is no shimmy, and the volume of the bang varries form low to loud. When loud, it feels like a small rock has been kicked up.


So today, when the car has had a chance to sit for a while, I went to see if my therory is correct. Today it acts like all is right with the world. I pulled the wheel to see if anything was wrong, but all looks good. The wheel bearing also appears to be in good shape, but there is no grinding noise and there is no play in the wheel assembly.

Am I still correct in assuming that the CV is in an early stage of failure? Or is it just a qwerky thing because of the high temperature yesterday?

Could also be the sign of a Deceased Motor mount....

But yes they can go Bang.... Even tho the usual sign is a clacking noise when making a turn from a stop.

yea, my cv's have to be replaced and it causes a clicking of varying degrees when turning, no banging though

I think Brian has me on the right track. I think the CVs are in good shape, but the motor mount seems to be a good candidate.
