there is a small diameter metal pipe coming from behind the engine, it goes to a block mounted mount on the left side of the engine (this is not the thicker air valve pipe)
The pipe has snapped off at the mount and i cannot figure out where this broken pipe should attach to. I'm assuming its an EGR pipe, but don't see an EGR valve on this car anywhere....can anyone tell me where this pipe should attach to.
Just to clarify, the pipe does go into the rear of the engine...it's the other end i need help with.
thanks muchly

Any open hose on a Dub isn't a good thing, as it can lead to the symptoms of your other post.
A picture of your "hose" would be good thing.
I am not a CIS edumacated fellow I prefer Digifant, but there are folks that will be along directly.
As I am suspecting that you are describing the co2 sniffer tube.

Re: disconnected EGR pipe???
I'll take a pic in the morning and post it, i plugged it temporarily. exhaust gas was coming out of it and blowing upwards under the air valve (black deposit on surfaces)
Not heard of a co2 sniffer tube before
The car had many vacuum leaks and disconnected lines, The 4 way T going into the intake bellows had a spigot snapped off and the hose which went to it was plugged (spigot on the left...end of hose has a Y and connects to 2 ...relays?...airpumps?. I put a T in the hose going into the rear of the camshaft and connected that Y pipe to it. I plugged the broken spigot on the 4 way T.
There were several severely cracked rubber vacuum hoses, i replaced them all and all of the pieces of rubber connecting the various hard vacuum lines. Other than my botch with the new T i installed, i think the vacuum system is now fully hooked up.

Re: disconnected EGR pipe???
The o2 sniffer tube is to test co2 and monoxides pre-cat, for tuning. Rarely do folks use it, and yes it is supposed to have a "Cap" on it.

Re: disconnected EGR pipe???
As was already said, that's the O2 test tube and it often gets rotted out from rust and breaks off either somewhere along the pipe or at the engine. It came from the factory with a cap on it and should be capped at all times (unless, of course, you're running a test).
FYI: Only 1980 convertibles came an EGR; all others use an evaporative emissions system with oxygen sensor.

They are idle boost valves.iownme wrote:(spigot on the left...end of hose has a Y and connects to 2 ...relays?...airpumps?.
