It seems that everyone has a holiday on Monday.
It's Thanksgiving here in Canada and Columbus Day in the US.
So I hope all you folks have an enjoyable long week end.
I hope that you folks in Europe have a nice week end as well.

Re: Hollidays
Columbus Day is only sort of a holiday here -- only some federal government workers get it off. For the rest of us it's just another work day, sadly.

Yes lets all have a holiday about the Italian/Spanish mobsters coming over here and taking over the area to run illegal aliens about, hooking us on Cigarettes, and transporting goods without knowing their impact on the environment (look what the potatoe did to Ireland). Then Celebrate it......go figure.. besides we all know that there is now proof that Leif Erickson (or another son of a Norseman) found North America a few years earlier. They didn't stick around to long, but they left the homestead intact.

Yes as matter of fact, I have the Luck o'the Irish...everything I touch turns to fertilizer of the bovine variety.

Re: Hollidays
There's that, too. I can think of a lot of people who deserve a holiday more, but...not much you can do about tradition, I guess.

Re: Hollidays
Columbus sailed the ocean blue in 1492 to be the first European to discover "the Americas". If anyone should be given credit for "finding" North America, it should be the east Asians (continentally-speaking) who eventually became "Native Americans".
Plus, Columbus Day is now nothing more than "50% Off Day!" to Americans and American retailers.

Columbus Day is also the best day of the year to go to Six Flags. Well at least the one in Atlanta it is. Its the only Monday they are open in October plus there is like nobody there. The last time I went I rode the Batman six times back to back.
