Besides with the top up, how could one see the cool Christmas Lights?
For years I used to put Christmas lights on my car every year. When I first started doing it, inverters were expensive, so I rewired a 120 volt string for 12 volts -- basically turning a series string of 50 into ten parallel series strings of 5 with strategically-placed solder joints. Later I switched to a normal string running off a 120 volt inverter.
I got lots of compliments every year. I didn't do it this year because my current commuter car doesn't have rain gutters to clip the lights to. This is what it looked like on the Mercedes diesel I had a couple years ago, though:
