vw recall

Post by Briano1234 »

As most of my fellow cabby owners have more than one VW and more current than mine... here is an interesting heads up on a recall

Yup, saw it on CNN and the Vortex. Sadly, I've had the brake light switch replaced under warrenty in the jetta once, and then had to replace it again myself. I also bought a spare switch for the next time.

Since my daughter now has a 99' new beetle, we'll be having that taken care of as well as the jetta.

The way to know if your switch is part of the "bad" batches is if it's a black or purple switch. The new one's that will be used now are green.

:? funny how these electrical problems just never quite seem to go away for the Mk 4's especially with the NB's and Jettas from 99-01.

It's funny, I never knew about the recall for the Jetta, anf I only had one problem, and that was not with the switch in question.

Maybe I better give VW a call to see if both of my MK IVs are affected.

I called VW on Friday, and the main reasson I didn't know about the recall, is my Jetta is not affected.

However my Golf is. VW told me that I didn't have to wait for the notice, just make arrangments at my local dealer to have the car come in.

I've never had one electrical problem with my '00 Jetta (knock on wood), but the recalls have always been fulfilled by the dealers, even when I didn't know about a recall. For this particular one, I received the usual letter in the mail a few weeks ago.
