if you can pull up the e-brake to the max with no struggle, then the cables need adjusting.

under the e-brake cover between the two seats, there are 2 10mm nuts that you can adjust to tighten the cable.

tighten it so that at 3 clicks up, it will keep the car from rolling.

didn't work, now its worse, is it possible that its a wheel bearing? the drum itself was a mess and the inner bearing was out of the race. would that make the metalic ringing/sword coming out of the holster in a medeval movie sound?

that might be it. replace/repack bearings and see if it gets better.
If you can't beat them, drop the top and pimp by 'em!

I installed new drums and wheel bearings. I removed the fancy wheels (they were rubbing on the springs) the noise is still there but quieter and there is a new noise coming from I believe the left rear wheel. Its kind of a rubbing sound that gets louder and faster as speed increases. I'm out of ideas. I don't know how to adjust the drum and pads or if thats even possible. so again, any Ideas?

If you tap on the brakes does the noise go away?

If you have the bearings too tight they can cause the same kind of noise.

If the brakes are worn they could need to be seated into the drums specially if you just replaced the drums. There are flats and groves on the pads that have to wear away a bit.

noise does no go away when braking. berrings are a little over finger tight.
after going over a bump this afternoon the plate that holds up the spring on my front shock gave out and my front end fell. I thought it was funny how volkswagens hate me so much even though I think they're awesome.
rabbits parked, back to the fox (good thing it didn't sell) I can't wait till summer so I break out the cabby.
