Nice scenery Brian

I mean, I know when ya gotta go, ya gotta go, but to take pics???

It's great to see the car is on the road. Now all I need is to see it in person and my life will be that much more complete.

So glad Cristine and I could help ya out. It makes us very happy to have a positive impact on this close knit family we have here.

Insult to injury....

Driving 200 miles to south Georgia today, stopped for gas.... NO START....

What I had taken for the Heat Soak relay was actually for the alarm to sound the lights and horn....FARGING BASTICHES....

I took a piece of extension cord and jumpered the Solenoid straight to the battery with the key on, presto started first time.

So after driving 50 more miles,,,,,to change the alternator in my daughters car, and then finding that her alighment was really out Resetting it to 1/16 diff on the front and rear diagonals.....

Then troubleshooting her electrical bs,,,,,,,

It was again a running car.

I bought the relay and the connectors to make a Hot Soak kit.

I have speced it out in my head and cross checked the bentley and will install it tomorrow.....I will take pics of it in process so we can get a FAQ.

As a retro fit, it will be pretty simple, take the wire that comes off the realy in the car, to the solemind and use it to power the new relay, that will directly feed the starter solenoid hot off the battery..

ps.... you didn't want to hear that 10 miles further down the road the A/C clutch fried........Geee what a day Other than that the cabby drove flawless, and tomorrow it gets a bath and an oil change.. Time for the thin breakin 500 miles to leave the vehicle.

Going back with Castrol 20w50 and a new purty Wix Filter....

Heat soak starter relay

Ford starter relays are best. Maybe a bit of overkill, but they'll easilly handle the current with no strain, they endure underhood temperatures and road grime with no problems, they have big mounting tabs for easy fit up, they have threaded studs for secure electrical connections, they are inexpensive.
Ask for one that's diode suppressed, most any mid '80s and up application, like for a Ranger.
Your DigiFant ECU will silently thank you for the diode suppression.

<edit> two more references, click the .jpg links from the Bentley site, it's the factory TSB on the topic.

There's still an AC compressor in your car? You should move up here, you don't need to worry about AC problems......ever.

Glad to hear that none of your current work went bad.

The lower alternator bolt backed out, and the smell was from the strain of hte belt running off kilter when the a/c clutch was on.....

Re tightened the bolt reset the belt no smell after running the a/c...for 40 minutes....love those easy fixes..
