What's the deepest offset I can get?

I'm trying to locate some Superlights that are 13" x 8. The 13 x 7's rub more I hear because the offset is different. I want an exaggerated offset to widen the stance and fill the fenderwells like we did in the old days.

Any style would probably do. Superlights are that "timeless" style, but flat pans, or spokes would be cool too.

But I need some deep lips in a bad way...

I've never been able to keep offset right in my head, I always screw it up. But I think the rims on my rocco have an offset of about 28 and my rims are 16x7. I think 8 up front might be too much. I know some of these cars can pull 9 off in the rear though.

Hrm. I was using the "Performance Guide for Watercooled VW's" by Per Schroeder (?) published by Bentley.
It's a great guide as it specs out all classes for SCCA competiton which is also very helpful for any kind of street performance.

Anyway, in the chapter on wheels and tires, there is no specific recommendation but the Superlight 13x8 is mentioned as preferable to the 13x7 since the offset is different and the 7 will rub whereas the 8 does not. They also state that pressing a set of hubcentrics from Fitipaldi will reduce vibrations.

I'm somewhat fixated on 13"s because tire selection is huge and price is not. I'm running 14"s at the moment and it feels less "twitchy" as it was with 13's. (Kinda like running around in wet shoes...) Also, it has that Old Skool look I prize so much. I see pictures of some A1/2's with FAT little rims...

*sigh* I miss the old days when you just ground off the rivets and reversed the rims! A good weld would seal 'em up again. A shot of puff-paint and a baby moon hubcap was all you needed. The rich guys used trim rings also... If you got lucky your car had skirts in the rear so you only needed a good PAIR for the front if you lowered it enough!

I guess it's best to just get a local specialist on rims rather than taking a chance and going mail order or ebay.

where are you getting 13's cheap? are you speaking of the sumitomo htr200's?

If so and the pricing is not too steep i'm going to purchase my aero wheels ASAP
13 x 10 is what i had in mind..

I would love to see a pic of 13's on the cabriolet if you would have any.

and i think a 4.5 or 5inch backspacing is adequate.. best suggestion make a template out of strong cardboard. test it.
