Transmissions

Have you done so much to the car today that it just doesn't fit into one section, or are you too damn lazy to split it all up? Either way, this is the section for you.

Can I swap a 5 speed transmission out of a Mk2 Jetta (1991) into a 90 Cabriolet? Not looking to change a lot of mounts or linkage, straight forward swap is desired. Thanks for the help.

I can't see a big problem. since the power trains between MK Is and MK IIs aren't that much different.

I know that it will bolt up to the motor/block. What I'm worried about is the mounting, probably nothing to worry about but if somebody has gone there before me it would ease my mind. Thanks for the post though.

mounts are different I think. Wish I had an A2 to look just to be sure but I'm almost positive the mounts are a bit different. Not that some minor fabbing wouldn't take care of it. :D

I'm fairly sure the mounting points on the tranny are the same but the mounts that attach to them are definitely different.
