just some thoughts...

Post by PDX Cabby »

so
i can get an 11" brake setup for $40

wow
big brakes
and would fill up the 15s i have very well
but
would result in a big increase of unsprung weight
which will ultimately slow me down
but
since i plan on pushing 200hp before long
i don't see why i shouldn't...

anyone else have some thoughts on this?

well with 200hp, your gonna have alot more speed (DCI pre-requisite...lol)

you might want to have the ability to stop better. the minor amount of weight will make no difference.

bigger brakes = better stop = not eating the ass end of the jerk in front of you.

I can tell the difference between the stopping power of my friends 8v rocco's and my 16v rocco. While it's not quite night & day, it's pretty close.

Bumping up tot he 11's is only going to add minimal weight in exchange for maximum stopping power. And like So_cal already said, if your going to be pusing 200 ponies, you won't notice the difference. Even more so if you stick with the 15's and don't bump up to 16" rims.

For $40.00, DO IT! The experience is worth the money, and if you don't like it you lost a couple of hours labor. You know you can get your money back on the parts.

thats the same thing i was thinking...
i could easily make money off of the deal at the very least
and
if i deside i like them but want a lil more, i can always go with 4 piston Wilwoods or something...

and
for the record
you will never see 16s on my car
ever

At the most, 16's are as far as I'll push on my rocco. Reason for that would be to drop to 40 series rubber and keep the ride height of 14's. Well, that any I just haven't been able to find a 15" rim that I like. Seems that everything I like (and I'm damn picky) is in 16's.

However, I'm working on a deal that in a few months could net me the rims I want in 15". I love the Konig GT-R rims and a friend of mine has a set thats a bit rough, but I can deal with it. So if that works out, I'll have exactly what I want and won't really increase much in weight since the GT-r's weigh less then my OEM Tear Drops.

I also say go for it. I've got the 10.1 on my cabby and they are amazing, so I can only imagine what the 11 would be like!! whee!!!! You'd never move around much in the seat because the belt would be locked up all the time :)
