Help with Strut on 89 top

Post by cwingerter »

My left strut on the top is not staying connected to the lower arm. What do you use to keep the strut from sliding off the lower arm? I thought it was a pin, but I am wrong. Any ideas?

There is a c-clip that fits over the shaft.

You can try looking under the carpet in the trunk, under the seat, or behind the rear panel on ro to the front of the strut tower.

As a follow-up; I've searched and no luck. Any idea on where to find a replacement part?

I have found them at the junk yard from time to time.

BUT

It's a dealer item, and they aren't really expensive. you can use a hardware store "e" clip, but you have to squeeze it a tad.
