mk2 grill fitment

hi does anyone know if a grill from a mk2 golf will fit a mk1 cabrio??

No; the Mk2 grille is a different size. :beer:

there are aftermarket MkI grilles that resemble the MkII grilles

the one thats on my car is like that one but mines has spot lights on it. i wanted the red stripe that goes round the grill like the older style grill

Yours is the standard dual-round grille, I'm assuming. As far as I know, you cannot buy a new grille with the red stripe on it and no Cabriolets came with the red stripe. You can easily add a red stripe to your grille using 1/4" red pinstriping (to give it a Mk2 GTI look) or paint. The red stripe around the older, single-round grille is actually painted grille trim/moulding:

yeah, the red stripe was a GTI specific thing

most people paint it red themselves
