While checking the engine compartment I noticed the O2 sensor was disconnected, I know it wasnt me so why would the mechanic want it disconnected?

Re: O2 sensor disconnected?
To eliminate it as a cause of a crappy running car.
I just replaced one that was keeping he car from running when warm.
With out it your car will run richer, and get worse mileage. The mechanic probably didn't understand the
CIS and the adjustments on the car so he did a "cheap:" fix.
