While this pertains to all sections, I'll resist cross-posting elsewhere...

The Bentley Manual is ESSENTIAL if you plan on tackling any work to your cabby. Here is the Bentley Manual in PDF format. I have it all on my iPhone, which is very convenient to say the least

first off is the Big file. This is the bentley manual in its entirety. It's a self extracting zip/exe. My server is slow, so bear with it. It's 275megs

To make things easier, and so I could load it all onto my iphone, I've divided the manual up into chapters

http://www.isaac-online.com/vwtech/CabbyRocco - Lubrication and maintenance.pdf
http://www.isaac-online.com/vwtech/CabbyRocco - Engine.pdf
http://www.isaac-online.com/vwtech/CabbyRocco - Cooling System.pdf
http://www.isaac-online.com/vwtech/CabbyRocco - Fuel System.pdf
http://www.isaac-online.com/vwtech/CabbyRocco - Exhaust and Emissions.pdf
http://www.isaac-online.com/vwtech/CabbyRocco - Ignition.pdf
http://www.isaac-online.com/vwtech/CabbyRocco - Manual Transmission and Clutch.pdf
http://www.isaac-online.com/vwtech/CabbyRocco - Automatic Transmission.pdf
http://www.isaac-online.com/vwtech/CabbyRocco - Suspension and Steering.pdf
http://www.isaac-online.com/vwtech/CabbyRocco - Brakes.pdf
http://www.isaac-online.com/vwtech/CabbyRocco - Body and Interior.pdf

This manual is for the 85 and ups, Cabriolet and Scirocco (including 16v). 1984 and under will be similar, so the information is still valid, but some things may be incorrect (color codes for wires, schematics for non-1.8 motors, etc).
85 Cab - 1.9L 8v, g-grind, euro dual downs to TT race w/ Borla, VWMS fuel dizzy, 2H tranny with 5th gear swap, TT short shift, FK 60/40, 15" BBS RA, rear disks... begging for boost...

Im certainly not the best qualified in the forum to answer that question. But I do know the Bently is MUCH better then the Haynes. A LOT more info in the Bently!

Liken it this way.

The Haynes is good and will get you to the ball park.
The Bentley will get you to the ball park, your seat, and get you popcorn.

The Haynes has better quality photos of the wiring diagrams, than the Bentley.
But the Bentley has more detail and troubleshooting than the Haynes.

I used only a Haynes for 20 years keeping my Diesel Rabbit Running.

I have already worn out my Bentley in 8.
