Fuel guage
Hi all fuel guage is not working, it is hard to find a sending unit for my cabby, does anyone know which vw sender is compatible to this car? There are v-dubs in junk yard it would help to know what will work. Thanks

Re: Fuel guage
It depends on which years,
The 70-84.5 rabbits all had full sized spares and a 10 gallon tank.
84.5 and up had a donut spare and a 13 gallon tank.
Is your water gauge flaky too? if so then you have a bad voltage stabilizer and not a gauge issue.
Pull your back seat and disconnect the plug off the sending unit.
Turn your key on (do not start) from ground (the brown wire) short it to the violet one and see if your fuel gauge deflects? If it do then it is your sending unit. If it don't then it is the gauge.
