No, only the blue one.....

The really fun part of that one is if the exciter wire isn't connected, not only will the alternator not work, the alternator light won't light up to tell you it's not working. What the circuit is actually doing is providing enough power to the field coils to set up a magnetic field, so power can be generated.
There was someone on another forum who changed out the instrument panel in a Saab for one without an alternator light, then had charging problems. I kept telling him it wouldn't work unless he hooked up an alternator light, but I don't think he believed me, or maybe I wasn't clear enough...eventually someone else told him the same thing and he got it fixed. It would work, every once in a while...it had enough residual magnetism that it would bootstrap itself under the right conditions, but it wasn't reliably charging.
