You don't need a new manifold. You can have an exhaust shop plug the hole in the manifold and put a new O2 sensor bung in the downpipe. It will work just fine there. I would only replace the manifold if it were cracked, and even then I'd get a used one, not a brand new one.

Thank you for the suggestion, eased my wary heart a bit. I think this is what im going to do however, I am going to call around see how much that procedure would cost. If it is more than a 100 bucks, I am going to just loctite is on there, and in 50-60,000 miles pay to have it done the right way. I Know I am being one of those Previous owners that everyone hates but sometimes you just have to say uncle. I have put way way more into her than expected when I purchased. so I think I may have to cut some corners and save the cast for the big repairs like a possible head gasket replacement (hoping that is not the case) Everyone has been so helpful thank you so much.

Ill have to snap some photos of the beauty and show her off. There is a reason I bought her, her good looks! cheers

red Locktite is not recommended.... heat softens locktite.

I would use the high temp jb-weld or the hi-temp muffler epoxy.

Manifolds get cherry red, so I would have to say 600 degrees easily.

Use a glue that will take it.

I saw some manifold glue at pepboys the other day I think it was good for 1200....

Now with that said, you be sure that you don't get any on the o2 sensor tip....

wrap the thread of the o2 in gas pipe teflon tape.
apply the glue to the inner threads, then screw the o2 in. Allow it to cure like 24 hours.

Then you may just have permanently fixed it.

thanks brian, I was going to see what they had that would withstand the heat.

Here is another problem that i wanted to address today. My distributor moves freely, I can turn it to get my idle (I guess timing) either high or low. The problem is it keeps making the idle lower and lower, untill my car dies. I want to stop this by tightening the distributor, I have heard there is a nut at the base, but I am not feeling/seeing it. anybody have a better discription of where this thing is?

At the base of the distributor, where it goes into the engine block, there should be a clamp with a single bolt. 13mm, I think. It doesn't look like a clamp, it looks like a flat piece of metal, but it clamps the distributor to the block.
