car will not stay running please help!
so i go outside today to start my 87 cabriolet 1.8 8v and it wont run. ran fine last night but today it will start but its just idleing below 10k just barely staying alive and the minute you touch the gas it shuts off. my external fuel pump has seemed really loud since i bought the car in june and now i cant hear it. please help im trying to get this car togther and reliable just so i can drive it. thanks in advance

sounds as if you have a bad fuel pump relay, and have toasted both fuel pumps. (there are 2) one in the tank and one external by the rear passenger side tire.

Low voltage will also cause the pump to be noisy. Check the fuel pump relay and the grounds for the fuel pumps. Cheaper too.
