New toy, not VW but it is German!!!

Post by 1lowcab »

So I picked up a new toy last week, needs a little work but nothing major, mostly cosmetic.
Its an '85 Mercedes 500SEL, a documented grey market, Euro car!!

It came in through Texas and is totally rust free.
5 liter all aluminum v8, its the euro RUF high compression version and man does it FLY!
The paint is all baked off from the Texas sun but all of the chrome is really nice.
The interior shows a little wear but nothing that can't be replaced.
All of the dash and controls is in German...I don't know what any of them do lol.

On with the pics!!!

All original Euro bumpers, lights, wipers.

Euro tails

Full Limo tint...big pimpin! lol

Nice palomino leather interior

5 liters of all aluminum Mercedes fury...needs a bath

And the bonus... mint AMG replica 17" rims with brand new Pirelli P Zero Nero tires.

All for the grand total of $1100... drove it home. :D
If you can't beat them, drop the top and pimp by 'em!

Wow nice.... You can find out the interior controls by using the web to decipher the controls, or possibly by English versions of the panels.

Man, that's a dirty gurl. I say sand it down, prime it and then plasti-dip it. Not a bad score at all.

she's definitely dirty! It has a high idle that I have to figure out, its a vacuum leak and we all know how sensitive CIS injection is to vacuum leaks. And it needs brake pads all the way around, other then that she hauls ass!

I'll be removing the door trim (I can't leave anything stock lol), welding the rivet holes and removing the chrome fender trim.
I'm going to sand it all smooth and paint it black or really dark charcoal, going to paint the lower trim and bumpers to match the paint....nothing like a big dark S-class. But first I have to clean it.

I've never owned a Benz before and all I can say is damn, they build them like tanks. Everything feels heavy and solid, you close the doors, hood and trunk and its like WHUMP! bank vault. lol
You can find out the interior controls by using the web to decipher
It did come with the owners manual....but its in German too so no help on the controls. So I'll have to go online
and try and figure it out.

Its actually satin single stage enamal, but looks more flat in the pics for some reason... it has more sheen in person.
