Newbie saying hi

Post by sluggish »

I'm sure some of you will recognize me from the CVD forum but just found out about this one so just saying hello. My topless bunny is a 1980 Rabbit convertible that was restored and upgraded to 87 specs back in 91. It has been neglectd for a few years since it was vandalized :( but I just purchased a parts car and will be getting her back into tip top shape over the next year or so. Hope to have it finished for the summer of 08. Nothing fancy, just a clean convertible for my wife to drive. I've owned it for nearly 16 years now and was ready to sell early in 06 but wifey says she wants it. Kind of bittersweet as it was my first car but I'm sure I'll never drive it again with the other projects on the go, at least she'll enjoy it.

Kind of a quiet site but I'll bet it picks up in the spring a bit.

These are the only pics I have at this point and they are scanned onto computer. This how it used to look before the vandals got hold of it. I then got really disappointed and just tucked it away in the corner of the garage. It hasn't been on the road in about 5 years now, and only once in a while for about 2 years prior to that. Someday...

You'll get her looking great again in no time. It's the motivation that is hard to come by sometimes. Sorry to hear about the vandals...really really sorry. I know how I'd feel.

Not a chance. I typically don't enter any of my vehicles in car shows anyway. I would, but then you have to stay there all day and babysit them, and I'd rather be out driving and enjoying them. That isn't to say that I don't go to the shows because I often do and always enjoy it. Usually I'll drive something nice to the show, park and go have a look like everyone else. If I'm heading to a VW show, I'll usually take a VW, a generic classic show and I'll take the old Dodge or the Firetruck, and this year(hopefully) I'll be taking the Cobra to as many as I can. I enjoy the journey as much as the destination. Unfortunately, I won't have a VW at all this year as I'm going to sell the buggy(hopefully) before then. But we'll see. If it's not sold maybe I'll enter it with a sign on it. :?

My Cab was my first car too! :D

Good-for-nothin' vandals  ; glad to hear your Cab will be brought back to life and enjoyed again and I'm sure she'll appreciate too! 8)
