1985 Wolfsburg 30,000 original miles -wanna sell

Post by arley »

Hi People.
I stumbled onto this website when searching for a value for our 1985 VW Cabriolet.
We bought the thing in 1986 or so....fell kind of in love with it.
We were going to use it for my wife's work, but she had another car and I had a company car. So it sat in the garage...from one house to the next till now its 2016 and we really need to sell it.
Its all original except for the stereo and the muffler. A little damage to the boot, had to have it repaired. That's about all. But, I did keep the original head-unit if needed.
Its a burgandy Karmen edition (with the red and grey interior).
Its got less than 30,000 miles, documented (by yearly inspections and such) and is in great shape. Runs like a top, but parts are becoming more difficult to find.
New tires and fully maintained.

Anyways, I am hoping you guys could point me in the right direction to sell it. I don't even know what it is worth.
We live in the Midwest, Southwest Missouri.

I will check back on this forum periodically.

Well there is vwvortex thesamba.com rabbitsownersclub to mention a few, then Craigslist.org as tons of folks look there as well....
Start there.. Be advised to having a show and meet for sale at a Police station.... Most police stations and or Sheriffs offices don't mind as it is safer.
I would also be cautions of Checks Take Postal money order or the like. Hell I did a Pay-pal, and Google wallet once for a large ticket item safer...

Thanks for your help Briano...I will work on it.
Had planned on Craigslist, but the VW forums will help target a little better.

Gotta remember the forums have folks that know these critters...
So for them start at 7500 let them dicker.
