Hello. New to site

Post by Kevin »

Hello everyone, I'm Kevin. I was the owner of a 1989 Volkswagen Cabriolet but sold it many years ago. I currently own a 2010 VW Beetle and a 1970 Austin America. I've been considering buying another Cabriolet. I've been seeing more of them here in S. Cal and it has sparked my interest again. I'm trying to post a photo of mine, I hope I'm doing this correctly. Looks like I did it. This was in Pismo Beach.

Welcome, just don't get rabbit fever, that is buying one that is overpriced or full of issues prior to you getting it. :)

Kamy has a great buyers guide on her site http://www.cabby-info.com/Files/BuyingACabriolet.pdf.

It's worth a read.

Hello,
Yes, I hope I don't get Rabbit Fever also! I like that. I have a friend who used to work on these cars at a VW Dealership so I'm hoping that he might be able to help me out. I can do simple things and I do know how to care for cars, but when it comes to the complicated stuff, it's a bit out of my league. I do some work on my Austin America.
I guess the biggest issue right now is checking for rust, correct? I'm assuming if I rebuild the engine/tranny then I can use it daily. Also, due to a knee problem I would need the automatic transmission.
Thanks for the feedback so far.
