Greetings from Oregon

Post by tunerautomotive.net »

Howdy yall.
I run a VW and Subaru repair and mod facility here in Salem Oregon , soon to be in Bend Oregon.
http://www.tunerautomotive.net

Ive had my fair share of dubs in the past and recently purchased a low mileage 88 Cabby for my girl who is a school teacher.
She will be traveling 100 miles round trip everyday in here cabby she named "Page".

Thus far I have ....
Replaced the control arm bushings , brake shoes and disks , front and rear motor mounts , ball joints , tires , radio , front lip and complete tune up .

The Cabby is going to remain stock but we do plan on getting it repainted , new upholstery , upgrade speakers , small drop and wheels . I like the snowflakes but there pretty thrashed and I hate cleaning the small crevices . lol

Welcome to TRF. Great cabby you have there. It's identical to the one I bought for my wife and then sacrificed to the human protection gods.

Sounds like you have some great plans for it and we can wait to see the progress. Oh yea, totally agree about trying to clean snoflakes. Real PITA.

Welcome to the forum. There are a lot of good people on here and lots of information. Your daughter is some lucky to be driving that Cabby. It looks to be in great shape. I don't know anything about cleaning snowflakes, but they are among my top favorite VW wheels.

Welcome!

I love the "'flakes" as well; those white ones balance out that white top quite nicely. Oh, and you don't know a PITA wheel to clean until you've had the pleasure of cleaning multi-spoke BBS wheels. :banghead: I guess I'm a glutton for punishment 'cuz both of my VeeDubs have 'em...

When I had wire wheels on my MG's I used a spoke brush, Easy cheesy.

Thanx all.
Yes I steer clear of any multi spoke wheels because of that very issue. I prefer a 5 spoke type wheel like on my 87 BMW.
BTW - My girl bought it herself with her money . I just sourced it out off craigslist and did the inspection and work.
My son is 7 now and the only thing he drives is his snowboard and skateboard but then so do I :)
