Not all tops are made the same BE careful

Post by Briano1234 »

I ordered a top from EBAY, a good supplier I thought, but never have bought from him before.

The top was delivered 2 weeks later than I was promised.
Then when I took the top out of the box this morning.... Gee it is a POS, why?

The side of the top was sewn effect, not embossed and sealed as all the others I installed.
So it would rip on the stitching seams, as the seam was on the back corner as well as the sides. Sure maybe I exaggerate about the itty bitty holes, but
I don't think so.

Here is a side by side...

The old one is what I ripped off on Wed night...

What a embossed seam looks like:

The tear is from the beading seam that I removed....

I sure hope I get my monies back.... if not..... FLAME ON.

Do not use Convertible Specialties...

But Autotops says that the sides are embossed. They are an Easy-on dist.
I have one on order....199 in the grained vinyl.

Just ordered a new top from TOPSONLINE.com ez-on is the brand as well as robbins. They sell two varieties of each, and the ez-on has the raised seams, and are heat sealed embossed on the sides.

Just got the new TOP from Topsonline. It is a ez-on top. The quality difference is night and day. The seams are better sewn, and the sides are embossed. All fish tapes are present, and it feels to be a heavier gauge of material than the previous. The seams are stitched well.

Can't wait to put it on, and take the remaining pictures of installing the back cable that I have been missing.

Got the new Ez-on top, it is nicely made with the exception that it didn't come with fish tape to insert the side tension cables.

Embossed and flat seam, not a raised rib....So the top is smooth.....

Notched out for the front tray assembly.

Rear side of the embossed area...
