Santa Sighting

Post by CalAltaDubber »

Last week end our club Club-Veedub held our second annual Kruise for Kids.

We buy toys for chairity and deliver them to one of the local VW dealers that is involved with the chairity.

This year Santa and some of his friends in the club showed up with a particular '81 Cabby.

This car had been sitting for several years. Well have a look.

Right after they fix the rust, heater, radio, ... :)

Besides with the top up, how could one see the cool Christmas Lights?

Bah, I bet his sleigh doesn't have a heater or a radio. ;)

For years I used to put Christmas lights on my car every year. When I first started doing it, inverters were expensive, so I rewired a 120 volt string for 12 volts -- basically turning a series string of 50 into ten parallel series strings of 5 with strategically-placed solder joints. Later I switched to a normal string running off a 120 volt inverter.

I got lots of compliments every year. I didn't do it this year because my current commuter car doesn't have rain gutters to clip the lights to. This is what it looked like on the Mercedes diesel I had a couple years ago, though:
