Ladies and Gents,

Can a mk4 or mk5 shifter head fit in our mk1 with little or no modification?

If you are talking about just the shift knob & boot, I'd say it's possible. If you are refering to the whole sifter assym, then the answer is no. MK4's are cable shift and as such, which is located under the center console is a nice box of levers designed to control the cables. I'm sure you could cut the main sifter rod and machine it to work with an MK1, but it would take some work.
