Gaping hole in headliner

Hello,

I am posting about my headliner again. Unfortunately, I do not have money or time to replace the whole headliner at the moment. There is a gaping hole about the size of a baseball above the driver's side. I stupidly tried to use some liquid leather type solution on it. It looks horrible. mostly, the problem is that the hole is so large and because of gravity, the liquid leather sort of drooped when it dried--It looks like some white alien egg is growing out of my headliner.

Anyway, I am going to remove that. I do have extra white vinyl which I could "patch" the thing up with. If that's a good idea, what glue do I use, or has anyone else done this before? I wanted to hear other people's suggestions before I do anything else.

Again, I'm going to live with it for now, so please no suggestions to just get a new one!

Thanks, Maresy

Yikes!

Sounds bad.

If you were able to post a picture, we would be better able to help with a solution.

You did say you have some extra vinal for a patch, which I assume is what you are planning. How big a piece do you have? Will it be enough to just cover the bad area, or will you have enough to cover a large area?

any vinyl-safe glue will work (goop, etc... directions will usually say such) - think of it like patching an innertube. I'd suggest trying to get your patch inside the headliner, and then lay your glue between the two. With the patch behind the hole, instead of over it, i think it'll be a little bit less obvious.

Thanks for the tips you guys. I do have more than enough vinyl for any sized hole. I will get to work on this in the next few weeks.
