Diesel is the same as gas except for the cam timimg is adjustable (without the right setup tools you can't get optimal performance) and you really need to make sure that the injection pump doesn't move (there is a special tool to lock this down also, but you can get by with a large punch) If you don't have the special tools to set the cam I encourage you to find/borrow/beg for them, it really does make a big difference. If you have done gas you will be fine. One more caution, if you aren't in the habit of turning the motor over by hand (slowly) before trying to start it, you should do that also. The clearances on diesels are a lot less forgiving. Just thought of another one, some of these motors use aluminum pulleys on one of the accessories, be very careful taking it off, they warp/bend a lot easier than you would think.

sounds like your doing better then I am. Cabby runs, but still have some timing (ignition) and fuel/air crap to work out. I really hate CIS right now, wish I had dropped a 16v with CIS-E in there, at least I know how to tune that.
Hope things stay easy for ya, I'll be waiting to see a pimped kerosen burner.

ahhh, it's only about 8-9 hours. Maybe 12 at the most if you drive like a grandma.
But it's all good. I picked up a dwell meter today and I'm gonna have a mechanic buddy of mine pop over tomorrow and see what he can do since he's much more familiar with this damned fuel system then I am.
