Is it worth it? Damaged in accident.

Have you done so much to the car today that it just doesn't fit into one section, or are you too damn lazy to split it all up? Either way, this is the section for you.

Is it worth it? Damaged in accident.

Post by nabeelr »

Hey all,

I'm in Ontario Canada.

The long and short of it is I bought this 88 cabby last year for $4200, put about $1500 in work into it recently, and crashed it yesterday.

Everything works, except the cruise control, and two dents in the floor when a previous owner jacked it up incorrectly, which has turned into a bit of rust damage on the undercarriage -- And now, obviously the crash damage that I just caused.

Body shop says it will be at least 6000 to get it fixed up.

Should I do it?

Hard to say without being able to see the damage. However, for 6k you can buy a damn nice replacement cabby. End of the day it boils down to how you want to spend your money.

I have to agree with Brian here. I'd really need to see the damage before making a comment.

But I was looking on Kijiji, and there are some fairly good looking Cabbys for $2,000 or so. You could pick up one of them, and use all the good parts on it. Then haul the dead one to the local wrecker.

Just my 2 cents.
