Fire, Leaf Blower, water and Engine mounts.

Have you done so much to the car today that it just doesn't fit into one section, or are you too damn lazy to split it all up? Either way, this is the section for you.

Fire, Leaf Blower, water and Engine mounts.

Post by Briano1234 »

Should of snapped pictures, but I spose it is time I bought a 6 ton bench press.

I had to replace the passenger side motor mount, as well as the Transmssion Mount on the Drivers side (I really hate the tranny mount more than the engine).

I sawed the old ones out and then punched them out.
I used my handi-HarborFreight wheel bearing tool kit.
It has a press plate that was the same size internally as the passenger side. This allowed me to beat it back round.

It also had a 4 inch press adapter that was the identical size as the mount, and an adapter that went over the mount and firmly mated with the outside and allowed clearance for the inner mount.

3 days in a freezer with the passenger side mount I took it out, placed all the adapters together and 10 large smacks with my BFH and the thing was in.
Cool..

The Tranny mount wouldn't go in at all, I think it was a Nazi Plot to kill the Rabbits I swear that it is smaller than the mount. But ding ding ding....

I filed one side of the mount with a bevel, and beveled the tranny mount too.

I started a small Charcoal fire, and placed the tranny mount bracket in it. The inner mount was in the freezer for about 4 days.
Using my leaf blower I charged the fire with air, easier than a bellows. I got the mount red hot. Pulled it out placed the tranny mount in it arrow up and wacked it with my BFH and one of the press plates. 3 smacks and I quenched it in a bucket of ice water, then I finished smacking it home.

So I feel like a Blacksmith at his forge. THOR with his mighty hammer...... I conquered my mounts...No press needed... YIPPEEEEEEEEEe

So they are all back on the car, and I can finish trying to get it running right.... Pretty much sure that it is the CTS.....
But alas, I have to replace the frigging plastic t-stat cover.......but at least it is handilty avail as the power steering pump was taken off to facilitate the removing of the lower timing cover.....

Well the Daughter who is getting married next weekend bought me a 6 ton bench press for my Birthday. She gave it to me about 24 hours after I really needed it :)

I was going to make some sort of comment about it being around the corner from you. Then I noticed the car is in Bellvile N.J. not Bellville Ont.

NJ is a nice place to visit, but the grammar and the location prevent me from going any further on this one.
