Things I've done and learned.

Have you done so much to the car today that it just doesn't fit into one section, or are you too damn lazy to split it all up? Either way, this is the section for you.

Things I've done and learned.

I picked up a 90' Cabby a couple of months ago with a blown head gasket. I've since had the head rebuilt, replaced the water pump, timing belt, cam pulley, radiator, all cooling hoses, thermostat, sensors, vacuum hoses, deleted the AC and replaced the power steering pulley that was bent. I had an erratic idle issue which turned out to be the idle switch not being engaged. I still have to get the temp and fuel gauges to work and set the timing. For some reason I couldn't get the distributor to turn after loosening the 13mm bolt.

You have been busy. But I'll bet it will all be worth it in the end.

Forgot to add the redone grounds. My gauge went up almost 2 volts after replacing them. Whoever owned the car before me closed the hood on the positive side of the battery. I wish I had taken a picture of the ground cable..

I had a 90 that had a "stuck" Dist. What I did was to spray the base of the unit with CRC-Freeze Off for a day or 3.
Removed the bolt and clamp.
Used a punch to shock the base of the Dizzy.
I found that the "o-ring" had glued itself to the block and the dizzy.
Replaced the o-ring and use never-seize.

I used WD-40 and it broke loose. Of course noone was around to hold the gas at 2,250rpms to time it. Then the distributor stuck again by the time I had someone around to hold the throttle. Repeat the whole process 2 more times. After coming to the conclusion that I was never gonna have someone around AND the distributor being unstuck at the same time, I set the timing according to this Techtonics Tuning article. I used the marks on the tranny instead of the cover. I don't know which is more accurate but the marks on the cover and tranny are slightly off compared to each other. I've only driven it around the neighborhood but it starts and idles smoother and has more pickup. I think I'm close. It was sprinkling so I had to end my test drive.
