Internals of a Heater Valve.

Have you done so much to the car today that it just doesn't fit into one section, or are you too damn lazy to split it all up? Either way, this is the section for you.

If you ever wondered what the insides of a heater valve looked like:

Yep the thing blew apart while baby daughter was driving her cab.... So replacements are in order as this is the first time since I have been driving mk1's I have experienced this part failing that drastically.

Yea, I can't say I've ever seen one of those come apart.

A new one leaking almost right off the bat??!!!?? Ok, I know you have some of the worst luck out there, but that's a bit much. Might be time to break out the 2 part epoxy and the JB Weld and make sure that thing doesn't leak well beyond the zombiepocalyps

No this one is leaking at the pivot arm, when you squeeze the upper radiator hose you can hear it whistle.

Wow good to know. I just replaced mine and it looks the same. The lever to select hot or cold is still hard to move towards the hotter end of the selector inside the car. I checked at the Heater Valve and it felt like it was stiff there. I put in the lever on the heater cover plate to operate the inside cable link and it was stiff there. Do those cables need to be replaced periodically or are the clamps too tight?

I mean it is really hard to operate the selector lever to the hot side of the cover plate.

Thanks

No the cable is a lifetime thing unless it is bent or kinked usually I do that when removing the cluster controls or heater valve.
If the heater valve is tight to begin with then it will be hard on the internals too.
