more fuel pump fun
Well now I discovered what is wrong with my cabby. I finaly got a chance to pull my in tank pump today. The pump was working but the engine was not efected by disconecting the pump. This was troubling to me until I pulled the pump today and found the problem. The line that conects the pump to the sending unit had disolved and was all over the bottom of the strainer. Now the question I have is this. Is their a replacenent line that I can buy that holds the pump to the sending unit? I am thinking about just rigging it with 1/4 inch fuel line and clamps but I am not sure how long to make it, and I am wondering if this will hold the weight of the pump long term. Any of you kind people who have any knowledge or experince with this your help would be much appreciated.

So you just use regular fuel line and clamps? How long should I make it?

Had the same scenario on my GF's 85 Cabby. I think its ethanol damage. The accumulator was likewise eaten up, so it went to the trashcan. Just bypass it, unnecessary garbage.
This car is an ongoing project, and I would have junked it long ago if it wasnt so dang sexy!
Keep posting, I have a feeling that you are in for more work on the fuel system.
Sorry, didnt see the year on your post till later.
Dang that ethanol anyway!

Re: more fuel pump fun
Mine has a bad accumulator; it slowly loses pressure when the engine is off, a bit more than the spec says it should. I suspect this is responsible for my occasional hot-start issues. The car will light off on only two cylinders and want to die, but if I keep it running with the throttle it'll smooth out after 30 seconds or so. Purging vapor from the injector lines, maybe?

Send the accumulator to the trashbin.
Its an unnecessary POS, I am more than happy to jiggle the gas pedal a little on startup.
Mine was leaking badly, so I took it out and joined the hoses togather, intending to replace it, but found it not to be a vital piece of the puzzle, so for over $150, I'll leave it out!
