My 93 cabby in tank pump is failing me. Does anyone know if the in tank pump from an 81 rabbit w/ cis will work?? Thank you for your help!

Re: fuel pump info please
In-tank fuel transfer pumps were not factory-installed until 1984.5 (the tin-top USA-built Rabbits, including the GTIs, did not have in-tank pumps). Installing a used fuel pump should be a temporary fix... best to invest in a new one (the in-tank pump is far cheaper than the main the pump).

Re: fuel pump info please
Thank u for the info. I had my Cabby act up on me yesterday. She started to run rough. I pulled over to check the blue temp sensor and that was not the problem. When I got her started again the fuel pump was making a bad noise. Thoght it was the in tank pump and got home and found it is the other one. Well I looked at my 81 Rabbit 4 dr to see if I could borrow it. It would take modification to make that pump go in the cabby and I want to keep things intact on both cars. I am just going to replace both pumps. The in tranfer pump is a little loud and when I disconect it the way the car runs does not change at all. I am also going to replace the fuel filter. Now I am going to need 4 tires alignment and both fuel pumps to make it to Bugapaloza. Oh well just one of the joys of Cabby ownership

Re: fuel pump info please
The 90ish cabbies used a different pump.
The earlier ones won't work.
