Ever wanted exact match paint in a spray can
I found an interweb company that promises to place your paint in a aerosol can.
So I figured that I would give it a go.
I orded LC5U for my 1993 VW cabriolet...
from
http://automotivetouchup.com/
And they deliverd the paint and clear coat as It is a 2 part... and damn if it ain't the exact match....
So if you need exact color, and have the paint code number they are the go to folks.

For the door I am putting on, it took about 2 1/2 cans of color base and a can of clear...1lowcab wrote:wow!! looks real good.

20 bucks a can for the base and 8 bucks a can for the clear...
I figured that the cheapest I could get some one to paint my door was 400 bucks that is if I hung the new door.
Why not spend the money on rattle cans, and see how close it is... So I have about 89 bucks invested, and it don't look that bad. Right now the last clear coat is drying, I figure that at 1:00 I will hang the door and start the reassembly.
I was bs'ing with my brother and he was telling me I put too much paint on, I said doh..... it is a translucent pearl, which takes more.
My brother and I rattle canned my 67 MG, after I had finished the body work, to seal it for the winter, it didn't turn out half bad, after final sanding a buff out..... So ya know What the hell.... It is better than a Kinked door.......
So as it stands I have 3 coats of color on the door, and 2 coats of clear.
I sanded with 1500 between colors then let it "dry" over night and wet sanded with 1500 again. After the first Clear I again wet sanded with 1500, so I will wet sand this probably tomorrow, then rub it out in a week after the paint hardens a bit.
I touched up the bumper and it looks really good.

1lowcab wrote:$89 is a DAMN good deal!!!!
i'll have to keep that place in mind.
The finished product save for the final sanding with 2000 grit, and a complete buffing out on the whole side of the car.
I was amazed and astounded, it went back together with no strain or pain, and when I closed the door to adjust the window, I didn't have to, it was perfect..

Pretty friggin close...I am very pleased with the final results, and yes I added the gold Pinstripe today after sanding it with 2000 grit wet then buffing out with clearcoat compound, then applying Maguires Deep Cleaning Wax...

You get the rattle cans, and I will spray to the bestest of my ability, but we might want to wait till the pollen count gets below 35bazillion

It would appear that the Pine tree's are having an orgy, and like it or not, we were all invited.

NO YOU DONT... if you have allergies, and your car is parked outside, you get a face full of pollen when you turn on your a/c.. that is why I usually wash off the hood and windshield before I drive anywhere...1lowcab wrote:that is so weird all that pollen, i'd like to see that some time.
