I would like your input

Post by Calimus »

I'm thinking as the weather gets colder that I might have some time to spruce things up around here. However, I would like to hear from all of you on what you think the site needs.

I know I'm a crap admin and both Kuklaki and I have been ghosts for lack of a better term. However, that doesn't mean that we don't appreciate all of you and wish to give you a place that suites you needs.

So with that said, I'd like to hear what kinds of additions you'd like to have. Themes, something actually done with the main site that makes it's more then just a pointer to the forums? Tell me what you think and I'll see what I can do. This place is really here for you fine folks and I want to try and give something back to all of you that have made TRF one of the places you visit.

Thanks.

I think a BS detector is in order... :)

Personally I don't have too many issues as you are only a phone call away.
Besides I know where you live and what your cats name is. :)

Although one of these days I will take most of my crap out of the General section and get it to the proper section, or sections.

Brian, I thought you were our BS detector or would that be BS barometer?

It's true, you know where I live and if you can remember all of the cats names, you're doing better than most of the people that come by on a regular basis. :P

However, I am indeed serious about making some changes and additions around here. I'm open to ideas.

As for your mis-catagorized posts Brian, I don't worry about those too much. They generally pull enough views & comments no matter where they are that they always show up on a simple search. Besides, if we move them now, I'll never find them again, lol.

Just a couple:
Need one (or more) color scheme that has a light background... my eyes don't like white text on black.

In the help center:
Add a "convertible top" section.
Change "engine" title to "engine & transmission", or add a transmission section.
Change "body" title to "body & exterior".

Add a favicon!

Okay, more than a couple...

I have one, I have one, I HAVE ONE.... suggestion that is:

I have one of those too.

Move the SAVE button out to the outside.... away from the submit...
I usually hit that instead of the SUBMIT... then have to stop and re-submit...

I think it is because I don't submit for ship.... :) or being left handed..

Not sure if I can pull that off Brian. I'll have to search through all the code on the TRF-Gray theme and see if I can figure that out. If you want, give one of the other themes a try and see if it's to your liking. I'm working on a few themes currently, I think there are 4-5 avail. Might hold ya over till I can get that figured out.

Ok, the following changes have been made.

Convertible top section added to the Help Center forums
Transmission section added to the Help Center forums
Body section changed to Body & Exterior
Introductions section added to the General Banter Forums

I'm working to find a suitable fav incon and also will be working on the themes over the weekend.

Hey William,

I know that I have been a little quiet lately too.

But doing something to the main site is a good idea. I think either a "how to do cool mods" would be one suggestion. I have been working on a web page to shave door handels, if you would want to use that. A lot of Brian's tips and tricks would fit very well there too.

It would be easier to find them there rather than searching the forums.

Or maybe showcase a restoration or customization.

Good idea's Phil. I was thinking about something like that some time ago and had totally lost that train of thought. Thanks for bringing that back from the abyss.

Give it another try Brian. The permission system has changed since I created them all, so i'm a bit hit & miss with it so far.

Gee William, I don't seem to have the required permission to get in the convertable top area either.
