i never cared for that style hood scoop, but i did toss around the idea of having a black one on my hood (near the center and a little down from the windshield) for a while.

Hey Mike, yeah bro, that scoop looks good! I thought about something like that too, but I thought "If I dare to put a scoop like that on my car, I better have something under the hood to back it up"...FI for instance. Cause ya know them ricers are gonna do some rev'n. 8)

Well at least these CA ricer fools will.

I hear that!! I have been reading up on a 16v swap. From what I have seen so far grab an engine from a Passat not sure which years yet, and they drop right in. And apparently go like heck!!! This is some info I got this weekend when I picked up my quad grille. The fellow I got it from is a mech and works VW's. "as far as i know it is a genuine VWMS part. maybe check with bildon motorsports?" This was the answer I got when I asked the owner of the car where I could find a scoop like that.

I think Kamie also made some of those scoops way back in the day, but if so they are pretty rare now.

Also, for the 16v swap, if you car is standard CIS injection, you will want to pull the fuel injection system from the passat as well. Or rape a 16v rocco ro GTI and get the CIS-E. You really want the Digifant system from 90+ cabbies though as they are programmable and good for FI projects.

Ya know, I talked to a VW mech here who does swaps....actually Max from Max's German Car in LA, he posted here.
He said that its a big time hassle to swap any 16 into my car.
I will need a bunch of stuff like a new gas pump, knock sensor, etc.... the list went on.
He was all for the ABA swap through, stating that with the 16v you get something like 123hp and with the ABA you get 115hp.

I think that I will go with the ABA for smog reasons.
There is an import salvage place here that will sell me the complete engine, head, manifolds, dist, & block for $550. With a 90 gaurentee. Also he said that the engines only have like 50k miles on them.

I figure that I will buy the engine, put it on a stand and blue print it myself.

Excellent information!!! I have lots of time to research as I plan on driving the car as is this summer (should I finish it in time) Then next winter when it's parked I'll do the deed, not sure which one yet though. Mine being 86 is now emmisions test exempt, so I am a little more open to options.

well, you could always move to TRF HQ's. No emissions testing here at all. Which isn't exactly a great thing, but it works out nice for some of us.
