Posh Bunny

Post by CalAltaDubber »

I mentioned the other day that I finally finished (well sort of) my project. Here is what rolled out of the garage.

Posh Bunny
My inspiration was If Volkswagen had a two seat roadster Cabby, what would it be like? I also wanted to have some fun with mods.
So here is the list:
Shaved door handles;
Shaved trunk button;
Relocated rear brake light;
Relocated front marker lights;
Euro Bumpers;
Kamei air dam;
Rear deck panel.

I finished it off with a wind deflector from Bodiwindshotts.

It's different. That's what I was going for.

I always thought that a Cabby would make a great two seater (roadster), the removal of the rear seat would increase the trunk area.

As I was approaching the end of the project, I decided that the seat area would also make a good place to mount some 6X9 speakers.
I accomplished this by covering a board with vinal. This gives a partial finish to the former rear seat area and allowes the installation of the speaker boxes.

The deck is a frame where I covered with cushioned panels. The centre is hinged to allow access to the forward trunk area.

In this photo you can see the speaker installation, and the rear deck frame (the wiring needs to be cleaned up).

Here's what the finished deck looks like.

The best part is that it only takes about 15 - 20 mins to remove the deck, speakers and re-install the rear seat.

thats pretty genius. you could put some nice subs under there and then mount speakers to the board. is the metal frame and board actually attached to the car?

Yes both the base board and the frame are attached to the car. To do otherwise would be unsafe in my opinion. The base was easy, and I was able to use the rear seat attach points to secure it. the top frame was a little more complicated.

One could easily put a KILLER SUB there, but I had the 6X9s and a 50 W/channel amp. on hand. The result is fairly good sound.
