Scirocco Calipers

Post by sixsracing »

Has anybody tried to bolt 16v Scirocco calipers directly to Cabriolet steering knuckles? I need to replace rotors and pads anyway, seeing as I'm working back in the parts business the parts are to cheap to pass up. Information would be appreciated as always.

Looks like I have an answer, a pair of brackets are needed for proper caliper height. Anybody know where I can buy just the brackets?

dealer only probably, unless you can find them in a wrecking yard.

Nope, this is no dealer part. This to to ADAPT one dealer part to fit another dealer part and the two were never supposed to be togehter on the same car.

you also need the 16V carriers, then they will bolt up. i thought i had a set of 10.1's but the guy backed out of the sale. :x
keep on eye on the tex, sometimes people will sell just the carriers.

Lowcab, I'm thinking the carriers you are talking about are the caliper brackets. If so, they come with the calipers I sell. There is what appears to be an adapter of some sort to raise the bracket enough to accept the larger Scirocco rotors as well. The adapter is what I need. The brakes were worn enough so that I threw on some Cabriolet stock brakes last night because my daughter is driving it back and forth to school and I couldn't let it go any longer. I'm still looking for the adapters though. Thanks for all your input.

thats wierd, i've always heard that 16v rocco calipers and carriers bolt right up to other MKI's no adapter needed. are you sure there not from an MKII 16v, like a gti?

Rocco caliper will bolt right up to a cabby knuckle. I know for a fact since at one point when I fried a wheel bearing, I took the the knuckle/hub from Crstines totaled cabby and used it as a replacement. Bolt the caliper & carriers on and toss on the proper disc.

Well, you might want to put the disc in place first.

That's the info. I was looking for. I thought that might be the case but I wanted to get some feedback. I'm ordering the calipers today and should have some updated information soon. Thanks again guys!
