my plan for my cabby

Post by SoCal_Cabby »

i wanna make my '86 look its age or older. i'm planning on ditching the clipper for a duckbill, gti flares, chrome bumpers. but the problem is i'm not sure if i can push the bumpers closer to the body like the older shock mounted bumpers

it can be done by cutting the mounting brackets a bit and shaving down the bumper molding. Not fun stuff, but it is possible, Rocco owners do it to their US style bumpers all the time rather then spending $300 for Euro bumpers.

what year is your car and what kind of bumpers are on it now? I should be taking the rear bumper of the wifes toatled cabby some time this week, I suspect there to be mounting brackets and not shocks, but I'll take a pic if it will help ya out any.

well, I don't have access to a cabby older then 89 so I can't be sure, but you should have brackets as well. I think it's just the small blade style bunny bumpers that have the shocks.
