Self explanitory, if you did a cool mod to the body to help performance, talk about it here and post some pictures too.

Agreed William, It is really a tough choice for Brian.

I based my opinion on the posts in this thread. Brian had mentioned that he had both found a rear clip and a body shop that could do the work.

The rest was just streight arithmetic.

For the practical, it really would need a very good look at the vehicle. What might seem simple could turn out to be a nightmare.

Again, Brian has mentioned several times that he wanted the car repaired. So I made the assumption that he was fully intending to fix it.

But Brian is the guy that is there and the one who has the best information about what to do.

I am sure he will make the right decision.

$1000 buyback sounds high to me too. i've been through this about 3 times and every time buy back was in the $300-$400 range.
hope everything works out for ya!

$1000 buyback is crazy, considering that you can buy a new-used cab for that amount. Me thinks they are trying to recoup some costs there somewhere.

My insur co. actually said that mine had to go to auction, and I could buy it back for the high bidder price, which was about $250 IIRC.

But I do look forward to hearing what it is you decide to do.

the buy-back on my wife's '99 mkIII jetta was $1700. that was after it was totalled and they cut us a check for $6800. I told em they could keep it. I just wish I could have got the $150 worth of new tires I just put on it back, but wasn't able to remove them as it was at a secure holding yard. Oh, and we owed about $8200 on it. the wife put about 40k miles on it that year driving to and from school and killed its value vrs our loan. gap coverage, whats that?? she had to drive a horribly crabby B3 passat for a year so we could pay it off.

Well the lady with the cabrio finally gave me the VIN, and it checks out.

Going to see it Saturday....I hope

So today I removed a few things from my cabby:

The Rain tray
The Boot / Bag
The Brand new H4's replaced with the old cracked ones.
The Strut Bar
The Radiator Shield
The New Strut Caps
The Jack / Tool kit that took several trips to wrecking yard to complete.

All the shit that ain't bolted down.

Will either be totalling it and looking for anew cabby or having repaired.

Either way..I don't want that stuff to go Missing.

Keep us posted Brian. Either way ya go, you have support. Don't forget to remove your good rims and slap some skinny spares on there as well.
