I broke down today and moved the a/c compressor switch from the heater control assembly to below the 4-way. I don't know why I didn't do this sooner, it was a piece of cake.
Take one of the blanks out for the switch and cut it so that a switch would fit it and look semi original when re-installed.
Take the 2 wires off the compressor switch on the right side of the heater control assemble and connect them to the switch.
I now can have a/c on in any position of the slider, or better choose not to have it on, as in running the defroster.....

Brian, are you refering to the micro switch that screwed onto the temp selector frame? If so, I've thought about the same thing, but then I never used the AC in the first place so I never kept it in mind.
I hadn't thought about putting the new switch in the position you did though, thats a good idea.
