Re: Ooops

It was state run, however. I left the scene, I had an illegal inspection sticker, racing slick tires that are two sizes larger than legal, a cracked windshield and the car was totalled out last year as well. Didn't think pushing the issue was wise. Neither did my buddy that works for the DOT. Nuff' ...

Ooops

The run with my Cabby is over. Found some unmarked construction on one of my favorite twisty roads. 4" drop onto loose gravel with a large lip coming up fast so I touched the brakes. Bad idea. Lost control, nearly got it back but didn't. Slammed the guardrail at slightly less than 75MPH or so w...

Passat Radio

Hey guys and gals,

Wondering if anybody has removed a factory stereo from a 02' Passat or there abouts. Have a customer with a Monsoon with an integral CD player. Seems kind of rare and he is on a budget with 3 kids so money is an issue. If you got one I would like to give you something for it.

Re: Jetta Update

Maine is awesome. When I bought the Lexus out of state, the town hall gave us a registration and plates with no title or bill of sale. When we showed up at the lot the guy couldn't believe we had all the paperwork and didn't even own the thing yet.

Re: Jetta Update

Have you checked for fuel at the line/injector connection?

Re: Jetta Update

Good pressure at the inlet on the fuel distributor? Have to assume so since it also feeds the C/S valve. I have seen the mechanical injectors seize after sitting awhile. Do you have another set to try?

Re: Jetta Update

In-tank pump is working with the relay jumped, is the main pump also working? They are separate feeds from the same relay, you would need to jump all three pins for both pumps to run.

Re: Jetta Update

Have you testet for power at the in tank pump with key on cranking or running? I have seen these relays do this very thing. Main pump has power, in-tank does not. Also make sure you have ground on the brown wire at in tank pump connecter.

Re: Jetta Update

Probably won''t have to do that, but if you want to then post the numbers up, probably have most of them here, save you a bunch of $. I save them out of every car I scrap. Did you test to see if you have power to the starter at all? Things get missed sometimes when everything has been apart for so l...

Re: Jetta Update

Been there, lived that. Hate when it all goes horribly wrong like that. Lots of penetrating oil and then intense heat. Forget the easy outs, just make it worse. Usually you can drill them out till you are almost through the outer diameter and then use an undersize tap to jam in the hole and break th...

Re: Jetta Update

Block it off with a small hose and a plug, or braze it up.
Or you can cut that section of the pipe out and use a rubber hose
to join them back together, may be the neatest solution.

Re: Brake Failure Ford Escape

Brake lines could be different than brake hoses. Lines are metal, hoses are rubber. Call and make sure.

Brake Failure Ford Escape

Worked on a Ford Escape yesterday. Lost all it's brakes. Right front hose split. While I was bleeding the brakes after the repair the right rear hose failed. I then checked and sure enough the left side are split and in the same condition. This is a known defect with these vehicles. Ford knows all a...

Re: 84 cabby not running, vacuum?

Fuel supply relay, not to be confused with the Fuel pump relay. Different altogether.
