Re: strut problem?
Should any one run as mechanically inept as me run across this thread later - my new cartridges for the front struts were a different diameter than those i removed. They came with a metal ring that went on strut on the cap end of the housing that effectively made the smaller cartridge fit snugly wit...

Re: strut problem?
Hi, My spring wound up being fine. My strut had stuck in a compressed position somehow. The strut was clearly trash. Thanks for the great step by step instructions Brian; I pulled from Kam's site. It was great to be able to look at the step by step pics. I ran into two surprises: The diameter of my ...

Re: strut problem?
Thanks Phil. Before this issue I wasn't sure whether to replace the springs too or not. I can rob it off a parts car. Too bad no parts will be available on walk-in at the local parts store because I'm afraid I won't really know what I'm in for until its up in the air :) I think i'll look closer to t...

strut problem?
Good evening! I'd been toying with changing the shocks and struts on my 89, but driving home today one of my struts....well, I'm not sure what it did. My driver's front is sagging and has absolutely no spring/bounce to it. Sitting like it has a broken spring. Visually underneath I don't see anything...

86 Cabby
http://www.crankyape.com/default.asp?pg ... mber=49957 I found this cabby on a site I visit regularly (longingly wishing I had picked up the BMW M5 I checked out 2 years ago). I have purchased from this company (a camper) and the experience was good.

Re: Brake lights not working
Hey Phil, I just wanted to let you know I've not made it back to this repair. I have finally gotten through some other issues and have it back on the road. If my kids would stop having tournaments I might pull off 30 minutes of "me" time! I will let you know how I fair on this though, howe...

Re: oil pan - gasket??
Wow, its shameful how long this has taken me to return to. So - I ordered what I believed to be the gasket needed - Audi A4 VW Cabriolet Jetta Oil Filter Bracket Gasket VICTOR REINZ 028115441C from ebay (not sure what it goes to, but the drop down says it fits my year car. And of course, if its on t...

Re: Brake lights not working
Phil, I will re-post when done. Sadly, with four kids and soccer, softball, girls on the run, and taekwondo there's not much 'me" time right now!
I did pull the switch out of my parts car but haven't had a spare moment to pull the switch out of my good car. Josh

Re: Brake lights not working
Thanks - this was real helpful.
I just found the switch on ebay. Not pricey at all; about $16. That being said this maybe the first part I get the pleasure of robbing off my parts car : )

Re: oil pan - gasket??
yes, that makes sense - thanks for the help! No days warm enough to drive with the top down yet, but I typically use this as a daily driver once the salt is off the road...and I miss it!

Brake lights not working
Well, I've been driving around for two years without brake lights and I'm thinking this may be the summer to figure out why. I have mastered the surprised "oh - really??" face for the kind people that periodically inform me at stop lights that my brake lights are out. Needless to say, I do...

Re: oil pan - gasket??
Howdy, so...this easy project became more of a pain in the ... than I anticipated. After spending two weekends wrestling with the pan unsuccessfully for two free weekends I decided to have someone else come to my home to do it (I'm lucky enough to know a mobile mechanic). Anyway, after waiting a few...
