Re: Well the Rabbit dies again....
All parts are being donated to my 92. The rolling shell should be at pull-a-part next week.
After about 2.5 hours work I have the interior out, and the top is free save for the 2 headliner straps.

Look at www.cabby-info.com
Yes the air-bagged model was for 3 years, but the 89 model year glass will fit with the clips taken out and a new seal.

Re: Is there a ground strap for the Hood?
That is called a Bonding wire. It places the Hood at the same potential as the frame. Is it needed? Well in the days of non-resistor plugs, and wires it would cause a motor boat effect in the Radios of the day. (you could hear the engine rev) It isn't really needed, but you can make a new one using ...

Heads up on Alternator replacements.
My LLW Alternator that I replaced just had a semi-failure. The Case screws that hold the body together had a strippage from the re-builder. One of the Case screws backed out due to strippage and started to hit the Alternator fan. A 4.5mm Nut wasn't replaced on the screw on the back, so I added 3 mor...

Re: Axle question
I'll take a look at etka. I wish I could find my copy. It disappeared. As for cardone crap, never. Last time I did I hit my house due to no brakes on a "new" master. Been there on that one, had 2 reman ones bad off the shelf for a Dodge I was working on. Only buy new, then again that isn'...

Re: Axle question
They are part numbered differently, and you need to know if you have 100mm or 90mm axles, as the 90ish Autos usually are 100mm, there have been tranny swaps that may have been done as it isn't that hard on a 90, and that you have to but change the differential cup. Here is the funny thing, the 100mm...

Re: The past week in Car repair
Well, let's update. Did an Irish tune up to the Green Cabby, Plugs, cap and rotor (needed it). Then found the expansion tank cap fubared and leaking. go get one of my spares.... Then on Sunday washed and cleaned my Canvas top, and after drying I water-proofed it for the first time since it was insta...

Re: New guy with a 91
From the looks of the rear, your Cable tray is suspect, and if the rust is really bad under the top, and Cable, you may want to locate a Wrecker with a good cable tray and cut it out so you can have it welded in if you can't. Then have a respray of just that area.

Re: New guy with a 91
A little Elbow Grease and a Brass Brush, your car can look like this, as yours is about what my 90 looked like when I got it. https://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y65/briano1234/under%20the%20hood/cabby001.jpg Don't discount what LA's Totally Awesome cleaner spray will do, cheap @ 1.00/bottle at Dollar...

Re: New guy with a 91
I do know the 81 diesels, owned one for 20 years. Digi is pretty easy simpler than CIS, but it has it's quirks. A good thread for timing is Ron's Static Timing using but a DVOM. It doesn't require 2 men and a Monkey that the Bentley wants. https://www.reflectionsandshadows.com/cabby/static-digi.html...
