Re: Oh the Perimeter mess....

The Braves are building a stadium?

Or the taxpayers are building a stadium for the Braves?

With the exception of soccer and car racing, I've never seen a team/organization in this country fund their own stadium (don't even get me started on the f'n AZ Cardinals). :rmad:

Re: Replacing clutch cable

I was reading the following how to and the first thing they said to do was lubricate the new cable. Hence my question http://www.mk1vw.info/modules.php?name=Tutorials&op=viewtut&id=24 "Lubricate the new cable and set it aside." Ummmm, lubricate it with what?! The Bentle...

Re: Difference between Wolfsburg and regular cabriolet?

Blue paint - white top - white leather... must be a '92. The Wolfsburg Editions simply had unique combinations (paint, interior, wheels, etc.) not found on other Cabriolets. Usually about 5,000.00 new as the Wolfsburg was a end of the year model with upgrades on the interior/exterior.... :...

Re: How to clean Digifant injectors.

Will a 9 volt battery be enough to activate the ISV for cleaning, or willI I need a little more voltage? From the Bentley unpluging it when running can blow it up, or the ecu.... so best to leave the voltage off of it while you are cleaning it. A Vanagon (which uses the same ISV) expert advises to ...

but the battery light should be illuminated when the key is in the ON position and the engine is not running. Simply because the alternator is not turning and not charging the battery. Precisely why I said that since the OP's light is not on when the key is turned and the alternator isn't charging ...

Re: The past week in Car repair

This week: The Cabriolet will be back on the road... I hope :D ; finally getting down and sweaty (yeah, it's humid here; yesterday it was 50%!) with her trans. Shifting beautifully again. Odd thing though: It didn't take even 2 quarts to fill, when Bentley says it should be around 2.1. Plus, despit...

Re: After start, will not charge until revved past 3k RPM

The two topics have been merged (hence some repetition). In the future, simply PM a moderator; we'll move the topic for you. I believe this is a seperate issue. The battery warning light should be flashing when the key is in the ON position and the engine is not running. I disagree; I think t...

Re: Timing marks

Ah, okay then! Didn't realize the Digi's have a backside dimple too.

Using those OT marks seems a heck of a lot easier though... provided the car has 'em both.

Re: Timing marks

The notch in your flywheel is about where the O is on other flywheels, indicating the 0° mark: http://faculty.ccp.edu/faculty/dreed/campingart/jettatech/t-belt/Pic003a.JPG Kind of odd there's no other mark on yours. If that is indeed 0°, then measure 12mm to the left (12mm = 6°). Everything I read s...

Re: Wind screen advice

I had an XL and eventually sold it: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v319/jettncab/The%20Princess/IMG_1702.jpg I use my rear seat too much (groceries, car cover, top boot, etc.); I'd rather deal with wind turbulence than the inconvenience the screen creates. If you don't use the rear seat much, it'...

Re: How to clean Digifant injectors.

I would like to make a setup like you have, but I haven't come across any digifant cabbies that I can pull a connector from. Are there certain years on other models (eg Golf, Jetta) that use the same connector? Thanks, Matt Vanagons (1986+), Mk2 Jettas/Golfs (1988+ give or take; don't recall the ch...

Re: Plaid/Stripped Seat Covers

The interior you show in your post is OEM from 1986-1987. It has long been NLA from VW and you will not find it new (you'll have to source that specific interior from a junked '86-'87 Best Seller Cabriolet). Some OEM seat covers are available from VW's Classicparts in Germany, but there's not many t...

Re: Manual transmission gear oil

I just put Pennzoil's Syncromesh in mine (recommended by lots of folks). Shifts beautifully (and haven't yet read a negative thing about it), but it is thin stuff compared to what drained out. I've read conflicting info regarding GL-5. Some say it's fine to use, others say it's most certainly not. I...

Re: The past week in Car repair

Vanagon (over the last few months): Ripped the leaky rear heater out back in January. In May, used up nearly a gallon of coolant going to and from Moab, UT but no visible leaks. Got home from UT, ran an errand a few days later, got out of the van to see a trail of drips on the driveway and coolant p...
