Re: What would you do?
Carbs on a crossflow head, Ooooooooo yeah. You'll get to keep your tricked out bottom end, if your current head is hydraulic, you can use your current cam and gear. Carbs on a crossflow look so right pointing front, wrong on a counterflow. Plus, no exhaust heat issues to the carbs themselves, nor on...

Re:
...... The O2 sensor voltage seems to drop to nothing when I plug it into the Lambda harness. Measure voltage on the ECU side of the O² connector, O² sensor disconnected. It should be a steady 0.45 VDC. That's the vRef (reference voltage) that the entire closed loop system strives to attain and mai...

Re: Just Bought a 1990 Cabby, Got a few questions
About the brake light fuse, I'd first look at the flexy harness to the trunk lid for the 3rd/high/center brake light.

...putting on a top is challenging, but not too hard for someone willing to do the work, which I am. But right now, the top is really the least of my worries.... Briano1234 is the resident top replacement guru. I'm pretty sure he's got a thread here on the TRF, you can also find his write ups linke...

Re: Stumped........ :(
Cool thanks for the update. I spect that I need to acquire a spare coil.... I don't think I have ever had any bad coils on any of my cars ever.... Yours are probably DigiFant II, with a conventional looking round coil and a separate power stage. I'd not think that my experiences with the DigiFant I...

Re: Stumped........ :(
I didn't see anything about testing with starter fluid (ether)...... .....That's the simplest way I know to rule out/in fuel issues. Not something I've ever tried before. Back in my old days, ether was used to help a cranky, worn motor start and that was about all it was used for. It was generally ...

...he was leaning toward the coil or cap and rotor as a reason it wasnt starting well. then i noticed that a plug wire was chafed almost to the metal. he grabbed one of the braided fuel lines going to the CPR and wiggled it and said " this is what it is chafing on." ..... Um, there's a pr...

Re: OK wicked confused!!!
i have this vacuum hose going to what appears to be the fresh air ducting and then to this little check valve looking thing.... Um, that could be the evaporative system canister vent valve, or if it's way upstream on the air cleaner snorkel, it's the Thermostatic Air Control (TAC) thermo-valve and ...

Re: OK wicked confused!!!
Cabriolets never came with CIS-E, studying that variation is likely to confuse you. Cabbys did come with CIS through the '89 models. A Basic system with no electronic controls was used in '79, maybe in '80 in some markets. From '80 or '81 up, an oxygen sensor and electronic feedback controls (primar...

Re: control pressure regulator???
how important is it to the operation of the car.... Maybe this 3rd post will charm. The CPR is pretty much essential. About the worst that can happen to it is getting plugged. Should it plug, it will no longer be able to meter and bleed system pressure from the top of the metering piston in the cen...

... i guess what im asking is if you disconnect the CPR while the car is running will the car shut off? or with the CPR disconnected will the car start? Sorry, I missed the real questions. Answers are; no, the car will not shut off if you disconnect the CPR while running; yes, the car should start ...

Re: control pressure regulator???
20-26Ω or 12.4Ω doesn't make a whole lot of difference, all that reading is is a measurement of the resistance of the heater coil, 12.4Ω is just fine. If the heater coil was shorted and showing zero resistance, the fuel pump fuse would blow. If the heater coil went open circuit, fuel mixture would s...

Re: steering rack probs
Um, centre, bends, trackrods. The steering wheel is on the right hand side of this car, isn't it? ;) Left hand drive, U.S. spec cars occasionally break off the mount for the left side rack mount for the strap bracket thingy which allows the rack to slide side to side. Have a helper sit in the car an...

.......does the frequency valve buzz continuously whenever the fuel pumps run? It should, and it should be very obvious. The frequency valve looks very much like an EFI injector, it'll be found on the back side of the fuel distributor......
