Re: next summer....a sneak peek
Updates: It's been a long cold winter and I haven't spent near as much time working on Taz as I should have. In my defense, it seems that every time I do, it's one step forward and two back......this project has become a LOT bigger than I anticipated. I cut the raintray out to get better access to t...

Re: What would you do?
Thanks for the suggestion, I'm thinking the steel gasket should do the trick. I also just bought an MSD 8980 timing computer to go with the MSD 6A ignition (that will be bought soon) as I have to run a fixed dizzy with the carbs. The timing computer should resolve any erratic timing issues once and ...

Re: What would you do?
Quite a ways back, say 1986 or so I set up an '84 GTI with sidedrafts and a large cam. We were very happy with that car. Dropped the cat, went with a pre-emissions exhaust manifold also, with some kind of trick downpipe. Don't recall the brand. We were looking for low end so we left the valves stoc...

Re: What would you do?
Carbs on a crossflow head, Ooooooooo yeah. You'll get to keep your tricked out bottom end, if your current head is hydraulic, you can use your current cam and gear. Carbs on a crossflow look so right pointing front, wrong on a counterflow. Plus, no exhaust heat issues to the carbs themselves, nor o...

Re: What would you do?
I've solved the head gasket issue once and for all (hopefully). Trouble was, I am running way too much CR and too much advance for the stock gasket to handle. (I also kind of accelerated the process this spring when I had the advance really cranked for a month  ....long story, let's just say, ...

Re: Bigger throttle body?
I know my .02 cents is a little late to the party, but gull is right. You won't see any major gains with that TB unless you have the mods on your engine to take advantage of the extra airflow. If anything, you may even notice a slight drop in bottom end torque, although your top end should improve. ...

What would you do?
Hey gang, long time no post :D , sorry I haven't been around much lately, but the new job keeps me busy. Anyways, Taz is in hibernation for the winter, he's been laid up since September when I blew another head gasket. I have everything apart right now, but my dilemma is this. Do I spend $1500 and s...
